disfellowshipped for gluttony?

hello jwd board community.

just wondering.. has anyone ever heard of a person being disfellowshipped for the terrible sin of gluttony?

isn't it ranked right up there with drunkeness, adultery, murder, etc.?.

There is this prominent brother up in New England, with his whole family, that it's of public knowledge that they're all gluttons. There are even stories of how they've been asked to leave from certain eating places because they've abused the buffet lines.

They show it physically too! I'm talking about grossly and morbidly obese, huge as a house, every single one of them!!!

We would think that for their public display of gluttony they would've gotten at the very least privately reproof. NOPE! Instead the head of the family heads some department in the assemblies and all the others are elders and regular pioneers. All are loved and regarded very highly within the Hispanic JW community up in the Massachusetts area.

Talk about a double standard!!!

long enough to know that some peoples hatred toward th wtbts and some of its members are based on wrong information.

for instance: ive read on hear many times that the wt promotes the idea that everyone whos not a witness are not friend material or will be destroyed at armageddon.

The WBTS does not promote/encourage association of any kind with non-JWs. It's pounded into us at every single meeting I've attended.

Yes, JWs do voice the opinion that they're God's chosen people and everyone else will die in Armageddon. However, they do say that even inside the congregation can be people that are considered 'bad association'.

Marrying to a non christian

would you ever get married to a person of a non christian background such as moslem, hindu or jewish?

Never.

I did administrative support for an company filled with engineers that were predominantly muslim and hindu. So much so that the company had certain times of the day that they would go to a room and do their worshipping.

Also, I went to school and attended college with a few girls that wore that burka outfit.

By what I saw and heard through these experiences, there'd be no commonality for a dating/marriage relationship with anyone from the Jewish, Muslim or Hindu perception. It's all completely too weird and off the wall for me.

I befriended this co-worker, a white girl, that found some commonality with one of these Hindu engineers. She was very voiceful and outgoing with the group of us; all very nice. Next thing I knew, a few months had passed by and she became very subdued/contained/low tone of voice and even wearing typical Hindu attire at times. We were all like "what ever happened to the Susan we knew?!"

Relationship??

i've never felt this way about anyone before in my life.

the only thing is i don't know if its possible for us to have a stable relationship, as i am r.c, not actually i'm irish roman catholic which is a little bit "stricter".

JWs have very nice qualities that make them seem ideal for a loving and lasting relationship. However, soon the religion will become an issue. The non-JW will have to assimilate the JW's religion in order to keep the peace.

The JW will not be upfront about his/her condition of the other becoming a JW. This is a process that will happen slowly when the mate is already into the relationship wholeheartedly.

It's an entrapment type deal. Proceed with extreme caution.

Bringing reproach on Jehovah's name? My step-daughter to be DF'd

why is it considered that a person's bad/poor actions bring reproach upon god?

i don't understand this one bit when i hear my husband talk about it.

my stepdaughter is most likely going to be df'd soon (for being a typical teeneager as far as my worldly views).

The Bible itself mentions that men are viewed as "mere grasshoppers", "dust", "made of dust". If we're regarded this insignificant by this Almightly God, how in the world could such a low creature in comparison bring reproach to its creator???!!!

The concept is incomprehensible!!!!!!!!!!

It's almost like saying that the doings and behavior of ants or other lower forms of life bring reproach to humans, which are considered superior in comparison. The reasoning that mankind brings reproach to an Almighty God is just pure craziness!!!

not dfd but no-one speaks to me

i am ex pioneer, ex ministerial serpent not been near a kh in 6 years, smoke, drink had a live in gf until recently, but not dfd, so much for keeping the cong clean!

still, none of my "brothers" with a couple of exceptions, speaks to me now, their way of trying to win me back perhaps?

not that it'd work - i am happy now after 10 years of bs from people who ought to know better but don't
